Birrieria Los Gonzalez - Lunch Truck is a stretch of authentic Mexican flavors right on Maple Avenue, serving up birria and other beloved Mexican staples from a well-known lunch truck setup. This spot is primarily about quick, satisfying meals with a clear focus on the classic birria experience—ideal for those looking for hearty, flavorful street food without the formality of a sit-down restaurant.

The atmosphere is casual and no-frills, reflecting the lunch truck tradition. It’s the kind of place where locals swing by for a well-made plate amid their busy day, often grabbing tacos or quesadillas to go. Despite its informal setup, the staff come across as friendly and efficient, making the ordering process straightforward even when the crowd builds around lunchtime.

Birrieria Los Gonzalez really shines in the authenticity of its dishes. The Plato De Birria is a clear stand-out, along with tacos de birria de res that bring a taste reminiscent of the hometown flavors on the border. The quesatacos and torta ahogada offer comforting variations for those looking to explore different textures and combinations. Those who appreciate a bit of spice will find the accompanying red salsa notably lively, complementing the rich beef-centric offerings.

The best time to visit seems to be early afternoon, around 1 PM, when the crowds are manageable but the freshness of the food is at its peak. While some customers mention slight waits during busier times, the food’s quality often justifies the patience. Portions here tend to be generous, making the spot worth a stop whether you’re grabbing a quick solo lunch or sharing plates with friends.

This lunch truck appeals especially to fans of hearty Mexican street food who appreciate straightforward service and flavorful, no-nonsense birria. It also has a local vibe—people familiar with Mexican cuisine will recognize the care in the meat preparation and the balance of spices, making it a reliable choice among LA’s many Mexican offerings along Maple Avenue.

My favorite birria place I've tried this side of the border. The food is excellent and it reminded me of my time living in Tijuana.

If you’re a local this is a MUST GO TO place. Really good tacos and staff are friendly and very clear on the service. Went around 1 in the afternoon not packed at all. Most reviews say it takes way too long for orders. The lady that attended us was very clear 15min for a big order. But definitely VERY good tacos. I recommend.

So I was driving down from SF bay area and was craving a quesabirria since I haven't had one yet I hopped on Google and this was the 1st shop that popped up and I must say it was bomb! Now I see that they're #1 Definitely recommend you try tthis place! One thing I'd say to the chef is the birria caldo was too salty but it was still amazing. I even saved a piece to take home on my 6 hour drive lol

Pretty good spot for lunch. The shredded beef was falling apart and super tender. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area who is craving a good taco. The staff were friendly patient and polite.

There's lots of birria spots in LA, but this one was delicious and worth coming back to. Had the quesotacos dorados with a side of consume, and oh man, bomb. Next time I'll get a bigger consume and I'll add ramen to it. Parking is the only thing that sucks in the area though.
